✨ HighlightHanadako is a popular takoyaki shop located in the Osaka New Umeda Shokudo-gai, conveniently situated next to the train station. The shop constantly attracts crowds of people eager to enjoy their delicious takoyaki. You have the option to dine in or take out, with takeout typically being faster. For dine-in, you’ll have to wait until seats are available. The seating is limited to a small standing counter that accommodates 8-9 people. After placing your order, you can enjoy your takoyaki while watching the chef skillfully prepare them, creating a lively atmosphere. We ordered 10 takoyaki for just 1050 yen, which is very affordable. The takoyaki comes topped with a generous amount of green onions and mayonnaise, forming a literal “mountain” of toppings. The takoyaki themselves are delicious — crispy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside, with tender, chewy octopus pieces. You can also add chili powder (which isn’t too spicy) for an extra kick, transforming the flavor in a delightful way. Overall, this is a highly recommended spot, and it’s clear why it’s so popular!→

✨ HighlightArrived a little before peak dinner time, and the line was not too long. We ordered okinomiyaki and yakisoba, both were incredible. We had counter seats right in front of the cooktop where we watched the chef prepare our food. It seems like such simple comfort food, but it was a flavor bomb. We especially loved the super smokey bonito flakes. Would definitely return! By the time we left, the line was much longer and we had arrived when we did.→

✨ HighlightExcellent coffee choices for pour over. Wish there were more selections for espresso (only two). Went with the Ethiopian. Given the quality of single origin, was definitely overpriced. The pour over game however, appears well worth it. I'll be going back to try others. It is a take out cafe, best be prepared for that as there are no seats. Staff really know what they are doing and take their time to hear your needs and aid you in the selection. They are warm and inviting. Was definitely worth the detour.→

✨ HighlightAs others said, it was a little hard to find but the other poster who uploaded photos was very helpful in finding the restaurant. We reserved this restaurant and it was an intimate experience with about 8 people including us who dined in. This restaurant definitely knows how to cater to English speaking clients and native Japanese customers. Although the chef did not speak too much to us in English, he presented a binder in English introducing himself, some personal facts about his family and how he got started, and wrote about the people who helped him in the restaurant. What an excellent idea, this was the only restaurant we visited that went above and beyond for tourists.l in this way. Granted, this was a bonus and I’m just in shocked the chef took the time to do this. Not only that, my husband and I used Google translate to communicate to him and his 2 assistants preparing the food. We wanted to make sure they knew how touched we were by their efforts and friendliness. The sushi was so fresh and amazing and the chef interacted with everyone in the group. We were so lucky that even a man and his wife ordered us a glass of sake when they realized it was our honeymoon celebration. This was such an amazing experience during our 2 week stay in Japan. We loved every piece of sushi and other non sushi dishes served. It was amazing, and we would definitely eat there again when we go to Osaka again!→

✨ HighlightTruly wonderful experience. Very chill vibe, which was a welcome reprieve from the uptight ambience of many Michelin-starred places (let alone one with 3 stars). Kitchen and front of house (many of whom are family) were so nice. Food was immaculate, with lovely, subtle flavors—perfect epitome of kaiseki. The C wine pairing (3 sake + 2 wine; no champagne, didn’t seem necessary) was perfect, and the spare rib was the best I’d ever had (we’d been recommended the rib, otherwise would’ve gone for eel or one of the fish). Easily accommodated my gluten allergy, and I ate nearly everything that my husband (blessed with a normal stomach) had. At the end, the chef met us at the door to say goodbye. Cannot recommend Taian enough—but, if you’re looking for big, flashy flavors and a more Western conception of fine dining (i.e. Nicholas Hoult in the Menu), maybe look elsewhere.→
