Jōshinzuka Kofun is a massive keyhole-shaped burial mound, one of the most impressive in Miyazaki. Its distinctive form, a circular rear mound connected to a rectangular front, marks it as the tomb of a powerful local chieftain from the Kofun period. Visitors can walk around the perimeter, noting the scale and the careful construction of the earthwork. The site is well-maintained with informational panels detailing its historical context. Unlike some other kofun, Jōshinzuka is easily accessible and offers a clear view of its unique shape, making it a must-see for archaeology buffs.
