Tsukuriyama Kofun is a massive ancient burial mound located in Sōja, near Kurashiki. This keyhole-shaped tomb, one of the largest in Japan, measures about 350 meters in length and dates from the late 4th century. It is believed to be the resting place of a powerful local ruler. The mound is covered in trees and surrounded by a moat, with a park offering walking paths and informational plaques. Visitors can climb a nearby observation platform for a panoramic view of the entire kofun, appreciating its scale and the engineering prowess of ancient Japan.
