The Tatetsuki Site is an archaeological park showcasing a reconstructed Yayoi-period (c. 300 BCE–300 CE) village. Visitors can enter full-scale pit houses, see raised-floor granaries, and view pottery and tools in the on-site museum. What makes this site distinctive is its authenticity: the structures are built using ancient techniques, and the artifacts are real finds from the excavation. The site offers a hands-on feel for daily life in prehistoric Japan, with staff occasionally demonstrating ancient crafts.

Don't miss

  • Step inside reconstructed pit dwellings to experience Yayoi-era living conditions.
  • Examine genuine Yayoi pottery and stone tools displayed in the small museum.
  • Watch seasonal craft demonstrations like weaving or fire-making (check schedule).
