Segonkō Kofun is a massive keyhole-shaped burial mound from the 6th century, making it one of the largest in Kumamoto Prefecture. The mound is part of a larger archaeological site that includes other smaller tumuli. Visitors can climb a nearby hill for a panoramic view of the entire complex, which is now a public park. The site features reconstructed haniwa (clay figures) and informational boards that explain the significance of the kofun and the artifacts discovered there.

Don't miss

  • Climb the hill for a bird's-eye view of the keyhole shape.
