Kumamoto Castle stands as a symbol of samurai-era engineering, with its imposing stone ramparts and black-and-white keep. Visitors can explore the reconstructed main tower, which offers panoramic views of the city, and walk through the vast grounds that include original gates and turrets. The castle's unique curved stone walls, known as musha-gaeshi, were designed to repel attackers. Though damaged in the 2016 earthquake, restoration efforts are visible, and the site remains a powerful testament to Japanese castle architecture.
