Mount Kōya (Koyasan) is the spiritual heart of Shingon Buddhism, founded by the monk Kūkai in the 9th century. Visitors can explore a serene temple town surrounded by cedar forests, stay overnight in shukubo (temple lodgings), and participate in morning prayers. The atmosphere is deeply peaceful, with ancient temples, moss-covered paths, and the iconic Daimon Gate marking the entrance to this sacred realm.
