Tatsumi Canal is a picturesque water channel built in the Edo period to supply water to Kanazawa Castle. Today, it is a tranquil walking route flanked by mossy stone walls and over 100 cherry trees, which burst into bloom each spring. Visitors can stroll along the canal, crossing small bridges and observing traditional wooden houses. The gentle flow of water and shaded path create a peaceful escape from the city bustle, especially during cherry blossom season when the tunnel of pink flowers is a sight to behold.

Don't miss

  • Walk the full length of the canal to see the stone walls and wooden bridges.
  • Visit during cherry blossom season (late March to early April) for a tunnel of pink blooms.
  • Spot the traditional kagari-bi (iron baskets) used for night illumination in spring.
