Mōtsū-ji is a Buddhist temple in Hiraizumi renowned for its Pure Land garden, designed to represent the Buddhist paradise. Visitors can stroll around the large pond, Oizumi-ga-ike, and admire the reconstructed golden hall, which once housed a statue of Amida Buddha. The temple's tranquil atmosphere and carefully arranged stones and plants offer a glimpse into Heian-era aesthetics. The site also includes a museum displaying artifacts from the temple's history.
