Lake Ashi is a beautiful caldera lake formed in the crater of Mount Hakone, surrounded by lush hills. Its calm waters reflect the sky and, on clear days, the iconic silhouette of Mount Fuji. Sightseeing cruises on replica pirate ships glide across the lake, providing panoramic views of the shoreline and distant peaks. Visitors can also walk along parts of the shore or relax at lakeside cafes. The lake is a centerpiece of Hakone's natural scenery, especially stunning during autumn foliage season.

Don't miss

  • Pirate ship cruise offering 360-degree views of the lake and mountains
  • Photographing Mount Fuji reflected in the lake from the Hakone Shrine area
  • Walking the lakeside path near Moto-Hakone for peaceful nature views
