Oni-no-iwa Kofun is an impressive keyhole-shaped burial mound dating from the Kofun period (c. 3rd–6th century). Located in Beppu, it is one of the largest kofun in the region, stretching over 100 meters in length. The site is surrounded by a moat and features a distinctive keyhole shape, typical of elite burials. Visitors can walk around the perimeter and view the mound from designated observation points, gaining insight into ancient Japanese funerary practices and the power of local chieftains.
