Mount Asahi (Ishikari) is the tallest mountain in Hokkaido, standing at 2,290 meters within Daisetsuzan National Park. Hiking to the summit rewards adventurers with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and volcanic landscapes. The trail starts from the Asahidake Ropeway, which ascends to a high-altitude base. The hike is strenuous but accessible to fit hikers, passing through alpine meadows and rocky terrain. The area is also known for its early autumn colors and volcanic hot springs.
