Blue Grotto (Capri)

The Blue Grotto is one of Capri's most iconic natural wonders, a sea cave where the water glows an intense, electric blue. The effect is caused by sunlight entering through a submerged opening and reflecting off the white sandy floor. To enter, you must transfer from a larger boat to a small rowboat, as the cave entrance is only about one meter high. Once inside, your eyes adjust to the dimness, and the luminous water seems to radiate from within. The cave is relatively small, about 60 meters long and 25 meters wide, but the ethereal light makes it feel otherworldly. Visitors often describe the experience as magical, though it can be crowded in peak season. The boatmen may sing traditional songs to enhance the atmosphere. Note that entry is weather-dependent; if the sea is rough, the grotto may be closed.
