The Abbey of San Martino al Cimino is a magnificent Cistercian monastery founded in the 12th century. Situated in the small town of San Martino al Cimino, just a few kilometers from Viterbo, it is one of the finest examples of Cistercian architecture in Italy. The abbey church features a soaring nave, elegant stonework, and a sense of serene austerity typical of the order. The adjoining cloister is a peaceful quadrangle with slender columns and a central garden. Visitors can also explore the monastic buildings, which now house a cultural center. The abbey's remote setting on the slopes of Monte Cimino adds to its tranquil atmosphere.
