The Rialto Bridge is the most famous of the four bridges spanning the Grand Canal, known for its distinctive stone arch and covered walkway lined with shops. Built in the late 16th century, it replaced a series of wooden bridges and remains a vital pedestrian link between the districts of San Marco and San Polo. As you cross, you'll pass souvenir vendors and jewelry stores, and at the center, you can pause to watch gondolas and vaporettos glide below. The views up and down the canal are quintessentially Venetian, with historic palazzos lining the waterway. The surrounding Rialto Market area buzzes with activity, making this a lively spot day and night.

Don't miss

  • Nearby Rialto Market for fresh produce and seafood
