Santa Maria Maggiore is a striking Renaissance church located in the heart of Trento, best known for its pivotal role during the Council of Trent (1545–1563). The church served as the venue for several important sessions of this ecumenical council, which shaped Catholic doctrine in response to the Protestant Reformation. Visitors today can admire its harmonious Renaissance facade, designed by architect Antonio Medaglia, and step inside to see a spacious nave adorned with frescoes, stuccoes, and a notable wooden choir.
