The Castle of Venus, or Castello di Venere, is a medieval fortress perched on the highest point of Erice. Built by the Normans in the 12th century on the foundations of a temple dedicated to Venus Erycina, the castle offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and the sea. Visitors can explore the stone ramparts, towers, and the remains of the ancient temple, including a few columns and a cistern. The site is particularly atmospheric at sunset when the golden light illuminates the ancient stones. The castle also hosts cultural events and exhibitions during the summer months.
