Sirmione occupies a narrow peninsula jutting into the southern shore of Lake Garda, offering visitors a blend of medieval charm and natural beauty. The town is dominated by the Scaliger Castle, a 13th-century fortress surrounded by water, with a drawbridge and crenellated towers that evoke its defensive past. Strolling through the cobblestone streets, you'll find boutique shops, gelaterias, and restaurants serving lake fish specialties. The main draw, however, is the thermal springs: the Aquaria thermal spa and public beach areas allow you to soak in warm, mineral-rich waters while gazing at the lake. The peninsula's tip, Punta San Vigilio, provides panoramic views of the lake and mountains. Sirmione's compact size makes it easy to explore on foot, and its lakeside promenades are perfect for a leisurely walk or bike ride. The town can get crowded in summer, so early morning or off-season visits offer a more tranquil experience.
