San Biagio island, also called the 'Island of the Rabbits' (Isola dei Conigli), is a small, uninhabited islet located just off the Sirmione peninsula in Lake Garda. Covered in dense Mediterranean vegetation, including olive trees and cypresses, it creates a picturesque silhouette against the lake's blue waters. The island is privately owned and not open to the public, but it can be admired from boat tours, kayaks, or from the Sirmione shoreline. Its main feature is a small chapel dedicated to Saint Biagio, built in the 13th century and still occasionally used for weddings. The island's isolation and natural beauty make it a popular subject for photographers and a romantic spot visible from many points along the lake. While you cannot land, the best views are from the water or from the tip of the Sirmione peninsula near the Grotto of Catullus.
