The Grottoes of Catullus are the extensive remains of a grand Roman villa dating from the 1st century BC, perched on the tip of the Sirmione peninsula. Despite the name, these are not caves but the ruins of a sprawling estate with multiple rooms, courtyards, and terraces that overlook Lake Garda. Visitors can wander through the archaeological site, see remnants of mosaic floors, heating systems, and ancient walls, and enjoy breathtaking views of the lake from the villa's former gardens. An on-site museum displays artifacts found during excavations, including pottery, coins, and sculptures.
