Perched at the rugged tip of the Portofino promontory, the Portofino Lighthouse (Faro di Portofino) is a historic beacon that has guided sailors along the Ligurian coast for over a century. The white stone tower, with its distinctive lantern, stands against a backdrop of deep blue sea and lush Mediterranean vegetation. Visitors can hike or drive to the lighthouse, enjoying a scenic route that winds through pine forests and past exclusive villas. Once there, the reward is a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Gulf of Tigullio, the Portofino Marine Protected Area, and on clear days, the distant Corsican mountains. The lighthouse itself is not open to the public, but the surrounding area offers plenty of photo opportunities and a chance to soak in the serene coastal atmosphere. It's a favorite spot for sunset watching, when the sky turns shades of orange and pink over the water.
