Torre del Diavolo, or Devil's Tower, stands as one of the fourteen remaining medieval towers in San Gimignano, a town once famous for its skyline of over seventy towers. Located on Piazza del Duomo, this 13th-century tower is part of the Palazzo dei Cortesi and rises about 47 meters high. Visitors can admire its robust stone structure and imagine the town's medieval skyline. The tower is not open to the public for climbing, but its exterior is a highlight of any stroll through the historic center. The name derives from a local legend: the owner, upon returning from a trip, found the tower slightly taller than he left it, and jokingly blamed the devil. This story adds a touch of mystery to an already impressive sight. The tower's square base and crenellations are typical of San Gimignano's defensive and prestige architecture.
