SanGimignano1300 is a unique museum that brings the medieval town to life through a massive ceramic reconstruction of San Gimignano as it looked in the year 1300, when its skyline boasted over seventy towers. The centerpiece is a 1:100 scale model made of hand-painted ceramic, covering about 20 square meters, showing every building, tower, church, and street as they existed over 700 years ago. The museum also displays medieval artifacts, tools, and costumes, and offers multimedia presentations that explain daily life in the 14th century. Visitors can walk around the model and see the town from a bird's-eye view, gaining a deep appreciation for its historical layout. The museum is located in a historic palazzo near Piazza della Cisterna, and the experience is immersive, with dim lighting and period music. It's an excellent stop for history buffs and families alike, providing context for the surviving towers you see outside.
