The Arch of Augustus in Rimini is the oldest surviving Roman triumphal arch, erected in 27 BC to honor Emperor Augustus. It marked the end of the Via Flaminia, the road from Rome to Rimini. The arch features a single, large opening flanked by Corinthian columns, with a frieze depicting scenes of sacrifice and victory. Despite its age, the arch remains remarkably well-preserved, standing at the entrance to the historic center. Visitors can walk through it, imagining the processions that once passed beneath. Its simplicity and elegance make it a striking symbol of Roman engineering and imperial power.
