Reggio Calabria Cathedral, also known as the Basilica of Maria Santissima Assunta, is the city's principal place of worship. Its neoclassical facade, with tall columns and a triangular pediment, dominates the square. Inside, the cathedral is spacious and airy, with three naves and a rich collection of religious art, including paintings, sculptures, and a notable wooden crucifix. The cathedral was rebuilt after the 1908 earthquake, which destroyed much of the city. Today, it serves as a spiritual center and a landmark for visitors. The adjacent diocesan museum houses additional artifacts and vestments.
