Castellammare Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of the Assumption, is the principal church of Positano. Its Baroque facade, adorned with intricate stuccoes and a large rose window, gives way to a lavish interior. The single nave is flanked by side chapels, each housing notable artworks and statues. The highlight is the high altar, framed by a grandiose marble balustrade and surmounted by a painting of the Assumption. The cathedral's dome, covered in colorful majolica tiles, is a landmark visible from much of the town. Visitors often pause to admire the ornate pulpit and the 18th-century organ. The peaceful atmosphere invites quiet reflection, while the cool interior offers respite from the Mediterranean sun. The cathedral remains an active place of worship, so respectful attire is expected.
