Castello Brown is a 16th-century fortress that sits on a hill overlooking the village of Portofino and its harbor. Originally built to defend against pirate attacks, the castle now houses a small museum dedicated to the maritime history of the region. Visitors can explore the castle's ramparts, courtyards, and rooms, which feature exhibits on navigation, shipbuilding, and local seafaring traditions. The real draw, however, is the breathtaking view from the castle walls: a sweeping panorama of the Gulf of Tigullio, the colorful houses of Portofino, and the surrounding hills. The castle is surrounded by terraced gardens with Mediterranean plants, making it a peaceful spot to relax. A visit to Castello Brown combines history, culture, and some of the best photo opportunities in Portofino.
