Mount Pellegrino (Monte Pellegrino) is a prominent limestone massif rising 606 meters above Palermo. It offers some of the best panoramic views of the city, the harbor, and the surrounding coastline. The mountain is a nature reserve with trails winding through Mediterranean scrub, pine forests, and rocky outcrops. It's a favorite destination for hikers, joggers, and nature lovers. At the summit, visitors can explore the Santuario di Santa Rosalia, a sanctuary built into a cave where the city's patron saint is said to have lived. The site includes a small chapel and a statue of the saint. The hike is moderately challenging but rewarding, with several viewpoints along the way.
