Otranto Cathedral, consecrated in 1088, is a masterpiece of Norman architecture. Its most striking feature is the magnificent 12th-century mosaic pavement covering the entire nave, floor, and apse, created by the monk Pantaleone. The mosaic depicts the Tree of Life, biblical scenes, and mythical creatures. Visitors also see the Chapel of the Martyrs, which contains the bones of over 800 citizens killed by Ottoman invaders in 1480. The cathedral's rose window and crypt add to its spiritual and artistic significance.
