Pienza Cathedral, also known as the Duomo di Pienza, is the centerpiece of this UNESCO World Heritage town. Built between 1459 and 1462 under Pope Pius II, it exemplifies Renaissance ideals of symmetry and proportion. The facade is simple yet elegant, with three portals and a rose window. Inside, the light-filled nave features five altarpieces by Sienese artists, including works by Giovanni di Paolo and Matteo di Giovanni. The cathedral's position at the edge of the town offers sweeping views of the Val d'Orcia. Its compact size and serene atmosphere make it a must-visit for those exploring Pienza's architectural legacy.
