Isola Comacina is the only island in Lake Como, located near the western shore between Menaggio and Bellagio. This tiny island is a unique blend of history and nature, featuring the remains of early Christian basilicas and a medieval fortress. The island is a protected nature reserve, covered in lush vegetation and offering peaceful walking paths. Visitors arrive by private boat or water taxi, stepping into a world that feels untouched by time. The ruins tell a story of a once-thriving community that was destroyed in the 12th century. Today, it's a serene escape where you can explore archaeological sites, enjoy a picnic, or simply take in the lake views. The island also hosts a small restaurant, but the main draw is its tranquil, unspoiled atmosphere.
