Perched on a ridge high above the famous Cinque Terre village of Manarola, Volastra is a quiet hamlet that feels a world away from the tourist crowds below. This tiny settlement is surrounded by terraced vineyards that produce the region's prized Sciacchetrà dessert wine. Walking through its narrow lanes, you'll see traditional stone houses, a small church, and locals tending their vines. The main draw is the spectacular panorama: from the edge of the village, you can look down over Manarola's colorful houses and the deep blue Ligurian Sea, with the entire Cinque Terre coastline stretching to the horizon. Volastra is also the starting point for several scenic hiking trails, including the famous Via dell'Amore and the path to Corniglia. Visiting here offers a glimpse of authentic rural life in Cinque Terre, far from the harbor bustle.
