Manarola, one of the five jewels of Cinque Terre, is renowned for its vibrant houses clinging to a rocky promontory above the Ligurian Sea. The village centers around a small natural harbor, where locals and visitors gather to watch the sunset. The main street, Via Discovolo, leads past the Church of San Lorenzo (1338) with its striking rose window, and continues to the scenic Belvedere viewpoint. Manarola is particularly famous for its wine, especially Sciacchetrà, a sweet dessert wine produced from terraced vineyards. The village is also the starting point of the popular 'Lover's Lane' trail (currently closed) and offers a short but steep walk to the Punta Bonfiglio lookout. Despite its fame, Manarola retains a relaxed atmosphere, with fewer crowds than Monterosso.
