Perched on a hill overlooking Livorno, the Sanctuary of Montenero is a revered pilgrimage site dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie, the patron saint of Tuscany. The sanctuary complex includes a beautiful Baroque church, a cloister, and a gallery of ex-votos donated by grateful pilgrims. The interior features frescoes, a richly decorated altar, and the revered icon of the Madonna. From the terrace, visitors enjoy sweeping views of Livorno's port and the Tyrrhenian Sea. The sanctuary is also the terminus of the annual Festa della Madonna delle Grazie procession. A funicular railway connects the hilltop to the city below, adding to the charm of the visit.
