The Roman Theatre of Gubbio is a remarkably intact ancient structure dating back to the 1st century BC, located just outside the city walls. Built during the reign of Augustus, it originally seated about 6,000 spectators and was used for theatrical performances and public events. Today, it remains a vibrant cultural venue, hosting summer performances, concerts, and festivals. Visitors can explore the semi-circular seating area, the stage, and the surrounding ruins, which offer a glimpse into Roman entertainment. The theater is set against a scenic backdrop of hills and olive groves, making it a picturesque spot. Unlike many Roman theaters, this one is still actively used, giving it a living history feel. The site is well-preserved, with original stonework and architectural details visible.
