The Museo Nazionale di San Marco is housed in a beautifully preserved 15th-century Dominican convent. The museum is renowned for its collection of Fra Angelico's frescoes, which adorn the walls of the cloisters, chapter house, and individual monks' cells. Each cell features a unique fresco depicting scenes from the life of Christ, intended for meditation. The highlight is the Annunciation at the top of the stairs. The convent also includes Michelozzo's magnificent library, one of the earliest Renaissance libraries, with a serene, vaulted reading room. Visitors can explore the peaceful cloisters, the refectory with a Last Supper fresco, and the prior's cell once occupied by Savonarola.
