Palazzo dei Diamanti is one of Ferrara’s most iconic buildings, named for its extraordinary facade covered in over 8,500 diamond-shaped ashlar stones that catch the light like jewels. Designed by Biagio Rossetti in the late 15th century, it is a masterpiece of Renaissance urban planning. Inside, the National Art Gallery of Ferrara (Pinacoteca Nazionale) displays an outstanding collection of Ferrarese Renaissance paintings, including works by Cosmè Tura, Ercole de' Roberti, and Dosso Dossi. The museum’s rooms are arranged chronologically, offering a journey through the city’s artistic golden age. Temporary exhibitions are often held in the ground-floor spaces. The palace also houses the Civic Museum of Natural History.
