Pomagagnon is a striking mountain ridge that forms a natural backdrop to Cortina d'Ampezzo, rising steeply to the north of the town. Its jagged limestone peaks and sheer cliffs are a paradise for hikers and climbers. The ridge offers a variety of trails, from gentle walks through alpine meadows to challenging via ferratas and rock climbs. One of the most popular routes is the 'Alta Via 1' which traverses the ridge, rewarding trekkers with panoramic views of the Ampezzo Valley, the Tofane, and the Cristallo group. Along the way, you'll encounter unique rock formations, wildflowers in summer, and the occasional mountain hut serving refreshments. The area is also rich in wildlife, including chamois and golden eagles.
