The Como–Brunate funicular is a charming cable railway that has been operating since 1894, connecting the city of Como with the village of Brunate perched on the hills above. The ride takes just about 7 minutes, but the views are spectacular: as the funicular climbs steeply, passengers are treated to ever-expanding vistas of Lake Como, the surrounding mountains, and the city below. At the top, Brunate offers a delightful escape with its Art Nouveau villas, narrow streets, and several viewpoints, including the famous lighthouse (Faro Voltiano). The funicular itself is a historic experience, with its vintage carriages and the nostalgic feel of a bygone era.
