San Domenico is a Gothic-style Dominican church in Arezzo, best known for housing one of the most important works of medieval art: a painted crucifix by Cimabue. This masterpiece, dating from the late 13th century, depicts Christ with a poignant naturalism that marked a departure from earlier Byzantine styles. The church also features a cycle of frescoes by Spinello Aretino, illustrating scenes from the life of Saint Philip and other religious narratives. The interior is simple yet elegant, with a single nave and a wooden roof. Visitors can admire the artworks in a tranquil setting, away from the crowds of more famous Italian churches.
