The Temple of Hera, also known as the Temple of Juno (its Roman equivalent), is one of the best-preserved temples in the Valley of the Temples. Perched on a ridge at the eastern edge of the archaeological park, it offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and the Mediterranean Sea. Built around 450 BC, the temple is a classic example of Doric architecture, with 25 of its original 34 columns still standing, including the entablature and parts of the cella walls. The temple's elevated position makes it a favorite spot for photographers, especially at sunset when the golden light illuminates the stone. As you approach along the Sacred Way, you'll notice the altar in front of the temple, where sacrifices were once made. The interior cella, though roofless, retains its original layout, giving visitors a sense of the sacred space. The site is less crowded than the nearby Temple of Concordia, offering a more tranquil experience.
