The San Leone River is a small watercourse that meanders through the coastal plain of Agrigento before emptying into the Mediterranean near the popular San Leone beach. The river's mouth forms a small estuary with sandy banks and low dunes, bordered by reeds and tamarisk trees. This area is a haven for birdlife, including herons, egrets, and migratory species. A path runs alongside the river for about a kilometer, providing a pleasant walking route with views of the sea and the distant Valley of the Temples. The atmosphere is tranquil, especially in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is soft. While not a major attraction, it's a nice spot for a short nature break, combining river and coastal scenery. The nearby beach of San Leone offers swimming and sunbathing, making the river mouth a good starting point for a seaside outing.
