Doon Castle is a ruined 16th-century tower house located on the shores of Lough Feeagh, about 10 km from Westport. This four-story structure was once a stronghold of the O'Malley clan, a powerful seafaring family, and is associated with the legendary pirate queen Grace O'Malley. Today, the castle stands in a state of picturesque decay, with ivy-clad walls and a roofless interior open to the sky. Visitors can explore the ground floor and climb what remains of the spiral staircase for views over the lough and surrounding woods.
