Wexford Harbour is a large, shallow estuary where the River Slaney meets the sea. It is one of Ireland's most important sites for wintering waterbirds, attracting thousands of geese, swans, and ducks each year. The harbour is framed by the town of Wexford on its western side and the low-lying North and South Slobs (reclaimed farmland) to the east. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views from the Wexford Quays, walk or cycle along the harbour's edge, and observe birdlife from designated hides. The harbour also has a rich maritime history, with a busy port that once traded extensively with Europe. Today, it remains a working harbour with fishing boats and leisure craft.
