Custom House Studios and Gallery occupies a beautifully restored 19th-century stone building that once served as a customs house for the bustling port of Westport. Today, it is a vibrant hub for contemporary visual art, featuring a ground-floor gallery with rotating exhibitions that change every few weeks. The gallery focuses on emerging and established artists, often highlighting local talent alongside international names. Upstairs, a dozen artist studios are home to painters, sculptors, and mixed-media creators, and visitors are welcome to peek into the open studios during certain hours or by appointment. The space itself is airy and light-filled, with original timber beams and large windows overlooking the quay. A small shop sells prints and crafts by resident artists. The gallery is free to enter and offers a quiet, contemplative break from the lively town center, just a five-minute walk away.
