Dromore Castle is a striking 19th-century Gothic revival castle set in lush woodlands about 6 km north of Ennis. Built in the 1830s for the O'Brien family, the castle features turrets, battlements, and a picturesque location overlooking the River Fergus. Although it is a private residence and not open to the public, the castle can be admired from the surrounding roads and trails. The estate includes beautiful woodland walks, with ancient trees, a walled garden, and views of the castle across the river. The area is popular for hiking and photography, especially in autumn when the foliage is vibrant. The castle's exterior is a fine example of the Gothic revival style, with pointed windows and crenellations that evoke a romantic medieval past.
