Rahinnane Castle is a striking ruin of a 15th-century tower house, perched on a mound near the village of Ventry on the Dingle Peninsula. The castle was built by the Fitzgerald family, who were Anglo-Norman lords, on the site of an earlier Norman motte-and-bailey fortification. The structure consists of a four-story tower with remnants of a surrounding bawn wall. Visitors can explore the interior, climbing narrow spiral stairs to the upper floors, which offer panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the Atlantic Ocean. The castle's dramatic location and historic layers make it a fascinating stop for history enthusiasts. The site is free to visit and often quiet, allowing for a contemplative experience.
