Pura Mangkunegaran is the opulent palace of the Mangkunegaran principality, built in 1757. Visitors can tour the main pendopo (pavilion) with its intricate ceiling paintings, the throne room, and a museum displaying heirlooms, wayang puppets, and royal regalia. The palace also hosts traditional dance performances and gamelan concerts. Its distinctive Javanese architecture and serene gardens make it a cultural highlight of Solo.

Don't miss

  • Admire the golden ceiling of the pendopo, painted with scenes from Javanese mythology.
  • View the royal collection of keris (ceremonial daggers) and batik textiles.
  • Attend a Tuesday morning dance rehearsal (if open to public) in the main hall.
