Lobang Jepang is an extensive underground tunnel complex carved by forced laborers during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia in World War II. The tunnels, stretching more than a kilometer, were used as bunkers, storage, and communication posts. Today, the site operates as a museum where visitors can walk through dimly lit passages, see original rooms like the prison and kitchen, and view exhibits of wartime artifacts. The experience is both educational and somber, offering insight into the harsh conditions of the era. The tunnels are cool and damp, providing a stark contrast to the tropical heat above ground.
Don't miss
- Walk through the original prison cells and communication rooms.
- View authentic Japanese military equipment and photographs.
- Notice the ventilation shafts and escape routes carved into the rock.
