Basarh

Basarh, also known as Vaishali's ancient capital, is an archaeological site where visitors can explore the remnants of the Licchavi republic, one of the world's earliest known democracies. The site features scattered ruins, including a large mound, ancient brick structures, and a famous Ashokan pillar. Walking through the area, you can imagine the bustling republican assembly that once governed here. The site is less crowded than other historical spots, offering a peaceful, contemplative experience. Distinctive finds include the relic casket and various artifacts now housed in museums, but the open ruins themselves evoke a powerful sense of history.
